Jacksonville - Dorothy Mardale Gainey, 72, of Jacksonville, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Carolina Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A public viewing will be held 2pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at Akridge Family Funeral Care Chapel of Jacksonville.

She is survived by her daughter Nedra Gainey of Jacksonville; son, Larry Copeland of Jacksonville; brothers, Perry (Shalanda) Gainey of Maple Hill, Glinnis (Constance) Gainey of Jacksonville; sister, Wanda Jean (Kenneth) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Dio'nesha Simmons of North Chicago, Illinois, Saboreyah Simmons, Zamira and Zaniya Evans, all of Jacksonville; great grandchildren, Aria Evans and Niyla George, both of Jacksonville. She was proceeded in death by a great grandchild, Mavi Gold of Jacksonville.
